Very interesting - a TC targetted at the PPC? I have my doubts how it'll work out considering PocketQuake's shortcomings, but good luck with it! I'm not sure if you'll find too many modellers here though.

Is this using a modified PQ engine by the way? I'd also be VERY careful of legal issues if you decide to sell this - if you don't require the original Quake, it would actually be illegal to sell.

Nevertheless, should be up on PocketGamer shortly! If you guys need a forum, maybe we can get it hosted on PocketGamer or here.

Just mentioned this project to someone, a Quake1 mapper, he says if you use *nothing* from the original Quake, you can actually sell it as long as you GPL the engine too!

Well, I feel like an idiot right now.

You even have pathing on the touchscreen - ie tap in the corner, and he moves there? If so, holy crap I really underestimated how involved you are with this! (I was expecting a purely QuakeC mod with a config to put it into landscape/proper controls) Hats off to you folks here, wasn't expecting this project to be as serious as I imgained.

Anyway, I've been asking around a bit myself - need a low poly modeller for something soon, but haven't had any luck.

If you need any help, I've mapped/still map for Q1, do some basic textures, webpages are my thing however. Though I've been way too busy lately, so I haven't had a lot of time, I could probably contribute a little bit.

By the way, would you mind going to the and telling everyone there about the game a bit more?

oh thanks and don't feel like that... I am slow to really say what it is... but the web site should tell enough about the story to give an idea of what its about. but not too much :)

As for your mapping skills, thank you, I may take you up on that in the near future... we definately need mappers with PPC's to test with... atm we're keeping the team lean so we can work more on experimenting rather so when the design documents are finalized, we can make solid design documents for mappers to work from...

yea its pretty neat if i do say so myself, but we still have a lot of work to do (codewise) before its really ready to say what it really is...

I could tell you all kinds of neat things we have planned, but till the stuff is really working, I'd rather leave the specifics unsaid.

The last thing we need is "this is the next doom3... it will run well on any ppc bla bla bla... it will be out next month.. er how about 12 months or more if your HL2" = too much hype leads to unreal expectations and unfair reviews...

but we're getting the beta ready and we'll want testers, so keep an eye on www.darksummer.com
The beta is intended to provide several things..

1) to see if we have bugs on other peoples systems and benchmarking for performance as well as who has what kind of system (maybe i'm the last guy with a 206mhz cpu)...

2) to get an idea of what people want to see more of (or less of) etc... since we can't really impliment everything, we have to decide whats most important, and gamer feedback is vital to insure we're aware of what people want.

3) maybe no one will like it and we should pack our bags and move on... but i don't think this will be the case if we can get it working as i'm planning and my plans are not outrageous.

Thanks
Caleb

p.s. oh i see you really started a thread.. ok i'll post something :)

ooooh this is kool! I might be able to help out with a bit of modeling I have zero experience getting stuff into quake but I know my way around max 6. I also know hammer/worldcraft so if your looking for any maps I might be able to help out.

heres a couple of player models I have done, obviously higher poly than you would want but making lower poly stuff is not to hard.
