I don't think the greyscale is the problem - but as far as I know they only work on PPCs. Dan knows further.
DAAAAAAAAAAAN!
;-)

Pocket Quake only runs on Windows CE 3.0 devices with 15 or 16 bit displays. So your device probably doesn't meet either criteria. Further, I don't remember any greyscale HPC being made that was even faster than 100mhz, which is not fast enough for PQ. Same type of problem with the RAM. Sorry!

Dan East

Dan,

Do you know much about the iPaq 3150 (16-color gray scale)? I'm wondering if the hardware takes the 565 color value in the video buffer and converts it to the appropriate monochromatic value on the fly? Sort of like what the 3600 series does to convert 565 to 444?

Might be interesting to add a post-pixel process to PQ to convert to 16 gray scale output just to see how bad it looks.

I don't know the properties for that device. If someone that owned one would run one of the " Direct Screen Access Properties" programs floating around (hint hint), then we would know. :)

Dan East

Last modification: Dan East - 05/26/01 at 06:57:22
