new map- hogtooth

new map- hogtooth

This one is more of a high-tech arena. Lots of metal. It doesn't require a mod, since it isn't Rocket Arena or Rail Arena compliant. As soon as the PQ startup commands are fixed, I plan to make it RA.

Image

Go get it at

Last modification: randall - 06/06/01 at 23:07:37

Looks cool randall. What kind of r_speeds does it get, looks like it could be high, unless you know what you're doing (of course you do).
BTW, why would I post as a guest when i have an account with the largest number of posts on this forum? Chris, can you ban that moron, it's a federal offense to impersonate someone. I'd press charges if I cared enough.

Has anyone played the map on PPC yet? It is the fastest map I've created so far, because It doesn't have as far view distance as the others. In the HIGH POLY AREAS, I was getting about 9-11 FPS (landscape) and 14-17 FPS (portrait). Of course that is without bots and a bunch of explosions.

timrefresh- standing in the center of the arena
landscape- 11.9 FPS
portrait- 19.3 FPS

I was able to add in the grenade launcher and thunderbolt, since the FPS was consistent.

I really want to make this an RA map, but since the startup command doesn't work on Casio it is such a pain to get running.

Randall, I hope what Dan sent you works ;)

I testing the ARM version, but didn't have any -game problems to begin with.

BTW- RA!!!! I want to play this in RA dude! It will also work with RailArena as well :)

Can you just make a makeshift RA map? One cheap way to do this is to put an invisible wall above the play field, with spawn points above it. This is a really common "spectator area" on most RA2 maps. RA!!!!!!!

Since 999 really thinks this map is worthy of RA, I'll try to make it RA compliant by this evening.

Even if I can't the -game parameter to work.

Dan, the link is broken... can you email an updated link?

DooD...SWEET! It works. I only tested the bots so far, but I assume that the other mods will work as well. For the first time I am able to run multiple CONFIGS!

I'll re-download 999's RA mods and see if I can get them to work "straight outta the box".

RailArena works... bots, spawning everything. I had to modify the link though... I think it requires the FULL path:

56#"quake\pocketquake.exe" -game rail -listen 3 +map divise

Also note that there was a spelling discrepency- the map was name divise and the link was searching for devise.

Looks like I am going to be busy making Hogtooth RA compliant tonight. :)
