First: run a search next time. This problem has been handled before in the forums, and a search would have answered your question.<br><br>Second: in answer to your question, shortcuts in WinCE are just like shortcuts on any other Win32 title. They're text files. Assuming you're on an iPAQ, you can use them to lauch PocketQuake with a game by editing them with Notepad.<br><br>A shortcut is structured as follows:<br><br>41#"Program Files\Rabid Toaster\shortcut.exe"<br><br>The number at the start is the total number of characters (including the hard return at the end) that are in the command line to be executed. After that comes the # delimiter, and then your command line in quotes. Any command-line arguments (like -game reaper in a bot's case) are added _after_ the quote marks. So my shortcut to run Reaper bots, for instance, is as follows:<br><br>50#"\Storage Card\quake\PocketQuake.exe" -game reaper<br><br>Flavor to taste and you should have a working shortcut. Remember to make sure that the filename has the extension .lnk or the handheld won't recognize it.<br><br>As for the map, that should be added either as a +map command line argument to your shortcut, or as a console command in your autoexec.cfg.

On the other hand, reading through your post again (stupid Thomas! Stupid!), I see you're on a Jornada. The shortcut trick may or may not work for your platform. Last I heard, it wouldn't work on Casio devices because of something in the way they handle command-line arguments. In that case, you'll probably need to create a custom .pak file. I recommend finding a program called PakScape to do that, and you'll need to replace the files in the default pak0.pak with the custom ones from the bots. There ought to be more material in the forums about doing that--I know a couple of people work that way, and I think 999 has done it several times (wherever he's gotten to).

Technically Windows CE shortcuts should not have a carriage return at the end, although most seem to work ok even with that extraneous character.<br>Also, Windows CE shortcuts are in a totally different format than Win32 (WinME, 2000, etc) shortcuts. <br>In earlier versions of Pocket Quake there was a problem with some command line parameters. That has been fixed, and all command line parameters should work with all devices.<br><br>Dan East

Right. I knew they were a different format, but what I meant by the "they're all the same" comment is that they're all text files. I never quite felt like editing shortcuts on my laptop manually, but it always kind of gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling that I _could._

Hey, _I_ don't know. Maybe you're just really inventive. <grin><br><br>Seriously, though, the screw-up on the Casio info above was just a case of my throwing 2 cents without thoroughly researching it. I hadn't paid a lot of attention to anything that didn't pertain to getting Quake on the mono iPAQ when I was browsing the messageboard, and I never downloaded the MIPS version, so I was working with old information. Lo siento, I'll try to keep from doing it again.
