problems installing pako file...Help!!

Postby async2508 » Oct 1, 2001 @ 6:01am

I am trying to download quake to my Pocket PC...an HP Jornada 548(32MB) with NO flash card). I am having difficulty with the pak0.pak file. All other quake file installed on ppc okay.

I have decompressed the pak0 file I downloaded only to find the decompressed file is another ZIP file......pak0.pak.gz (winzip file). Assuming this is correct I tried to copy this file across onto the ppc and got the message:

"not enough disk space" despite having 13MB free on the ppc. The file contained in pak0.pak.gz is pak0.pak (pak file) and is 18.2 MB in size!!!!
I presume that the file will auto uncompress in the transfer from pc to ppc via activesync?

Can anyone help me with some advise or clarification on the installation process...ie. do I really need 18.2MB free space on my pcc to install the pak file and run the program?

I only have winZip and not GZip to decompress pak0 file, could this be the problem?? If so where can i download gZip from?

thanx

alex
You do not need to un-gZip the file, and certainly not if you do not have enough free storage to hold the 18 MB uncompressed file. WinZip can decompress .gz files.

Dan East

and make sure that 13 mb free you are talking about is in storage memory, not program.
