Quake Error: You must have ..

Quake Error: You must have ..

Postby plaz » Feb 26, 2002 @ 6:47pm

Hi,

I have an old Compaq Areo P.PC with 16MB memory and a cf card with 8MB.

When I tried to run Quake it complained about the memory, little left.
Then I repacked the .pak file into pak0.pak.gz and pak1.pak.gz. Placing pak1 on the cf.

Then when quake started it said: You must have the registred version to use modified games.

I saw someting about this on the site, so I dug out the pop.lmp and placed it in pak1, with no luck it seems .. any ideas?

No can do  since it's a 8MB cf and the pak(s) are more than 8MB together.

try placing the pop.lmp file in \quake\ID1\gfx\, that should do the trick, but I highly suggest you buy a bigger storage card and take EVERYTHING off your device. PocketQuake needs about 12MB's of memory to run at a near playable speed.
