Digital camera question...

I'm checking out possibilities for a digital camera for my own, and I'm interested in your input.

I'd like a compact camera, with 'onboard' screen, hopefully CF card functionality, but SD is not bad either. Also, the device should be pretty fast, for if I want to make a couple of shots in a row, but also when you're turning on the device. The one I'm using right now (cheapo HP) kinda likes to sit around for like 10 seconds before I can actually use it...

I'm currently looking at the , and it does look like the right camera for my needs, but my lack of knowledge of these things kinda hold me back to get the first one I see.
