I have dsl, and I average 100 kbps.  Is that any good, or should we try and go for cable?

i seriously hope u mean 100k/s if ur getting 100kbps kill yourself.  I don't like my dsl its lame i get about 60k/s when i'm lucky :( My friend with cable totally pulls between 100-300k/s.

I have DSL but the best I've gotten is 150k/s

If I download from real close, like my ISP I get 200k/s. But that's not the case with most downloads (normal: 30-100k/s).
