What happened in 90's

What happened in 90's

Postby Matt Keys » Sep 27, 2001 @ 2:07pm

I am doing a speech on technology in the 1990's. I am looking for some good topics to cover. What do you guys think are the most important tech things of the 90's?

Cds aren't exclusive to the 90's. They were developed in 1970 and intoduced as a mainstream media for music in the mid-80's.

not DVD, that's 2000-2001. I have a 1989 IBM, which is 20Mhz, and I have a 1999 Compaq which is 500Mhz. That's a 2500% increase. The PC became popular in the mid-90s. And DUH!!!! I surprised no one said this, but what about, oh what's that thing called....oh! THE INTERNET!!!!!  I had the Internet RIGHT when it came out in 1991, with Prodigy as my ISP (the ONLY one back then), with my 14.4K modem. Since then, I've had a 28.8K, 36.6K, 56K, and now cable. I REMEMBER THE DAY WHEN THE INTERNET WENT AT 1Kb/SECOND!!!! I REMEMBER THE DAY!! I don't remember the exact date though, BUT I REMEMBER IT!!! In the early 90s, commercials never had ads for Internet sites, and companies never told of their web sites on commercials, or anything, but by 1999, people had ".COM" tatooed on their asses. Look at the development on gaming. 1991, Wolfenstein 3D. 1999, Half-Life and Quake 3. Big difference.

Crap, I didn't read Joel's post, which mentions the Internet, but I explained it better. I only skimmed though them, and read Paul's "college girls" post. Did anyone see the premiere of Undeclared on Fox the other day? After watching that, I can't wait for college, although I know a TV show wouldn't be nearly as real as real college :-(
