yea too bad its true luciano, the fda has taken bribes to not release certain information about aspartame

chris if it was normal soda then that is nothing to worry about

Luciano you really believe that the FAA is there to protect you? Right after he approved aspartame, the commisioner, Arthur Hull Hayes Jr., left for a job at G.D. Searle's the owner of aspartame.

Ooh here is a fact released by the FDA about aspartame (one of the few that they know and actually released to the public) Aspartame causes over 75% of adverse reactions to food.

Here is an FDA report about aspartame, sorry about the large size!!

oh yea and how about this: In 1969 Dr. Harry Waisman tested aspartame on 7 monkey infants. after 300 days, 1 died and 5 experienced grand mal seizures.

this is almost as humerus as thoes mints(blitz) that contain 'echinacea' wich "enhances sexual performance, fights off infection, and prolongs life". any educated man(or any man thats ben to college/med school) will be able to tell you that tree bark saoked in lilac extract wont do shit  thoes bastyards should be sued for all there worth.

on the aspartame frontline.
1. aspartame is a chemicaly modified amino acid (phenylalanine)
2. aspartame by itself CANOT cross the blood brain barier, the only way a water soluble compund can cross the blood brain barier is by a active transport mechinism, sence aspartame is man made, god never saw fit to equip the blood brain barrier with active transport mechinisms for the said compound. hence, aspartame canot enter the brain, so any claims that aspartame directly acefts the brains functions are bunk.
3. aspartame is almost imediately broken down by the liver into phenylalanine aka a simple proten nessisary for cellular function
4. the harmfull afects of aspartame wich are PROVEN ocur in a very small percentage of the population, and the contidion is diagnosed at birth. thoes who posses this disorder are known as phenylketonurics. phenylketonurics have a extremely limit capacity to obsorb the said amino acid , therefore when large quanititys are consumed (remember, aspartame is metabolised into phenylalanine by the liver evry quickely) the amino acid acumulates in the brain (there IS a active transport mechinism for all amino acids) causeing brain damage and vascular constriction (wich can lead to a stroke [or a realy f***ing bad migrane])

so, is aspartame bad? well, there are 2 ways it could screw you oveer 1.In acute overdose or when maximum daily dose is exceeded over a prolonged period, the normal pathways of metabolism become saturated. Excess APAP is then metabolized in the liver via the mixed function oxidase P450 system to a toxic metabolite, N-acetyl-p-benzoquinone-imine (NAPQI). NAPQI has an extremely short half-life and is rapidly conjugated with glutathione, a sulfhydryl donor, and removed from the system. Under conditions of excessive NAPQI formation or reduced glutathione stores, NAPQI is free to covalently bind to vital proteins and the lipid bilayer of hepatocytes; this results in hepatocellular death and subsequent centrilobular liver necrosis. cross apply the evidence our dear freind supplied in regards to the RDI. overdoseing on this shit would be hard, but even water has a LD/50(standard for mesureing the toxicity of a substance. LD/50 = lethal dose for 50% of population) . 2. if your a phenylketonuric.

god bless.

btw, props to chris for pointintg out the most promenent argument for aspartame. diabetes has reached a epidemic status in the US, and brintan is catching up quick, 16 millioin americans posessing some form of diabetes, and with hss secratary reporting estimates of a 195% inceses in that number by 2005 we have a problem my freinds. now, look at the fda report on "complaints" due to aspartame....im seeing about 3500 reports...complaints, made by a nation of several hundred million people, not a single one with a doctor who can tie there reported "symptoms" to aspartame, ther jsut looking for a answer and extrapalateing that it must be the nutrasweet in the can of diet coke they drank in the morning, in all likely hood its the acetic acid or the CAFFIEN (btw, caffiene is NOT a mineral my freind:) its a stimulant wich does not naturaly occure in the human body. ). so, 16 million and growing people dieing of diabetes vs. 3500 people complaining of headaches and blameing it on aspartame, if this thred wasent so brazenly iligit, i wouldent wate my timme <spits> cheers to all who had the comon sence to regect this ludicrus clame. now im realy leaveing!!! farewell and god bless!
