Well, actually my daughter plays GTA3 and she is 9 years old. Before people get all bent out of shape I should explain that we make a different game out of it. Basically we run around hopping into the taxis and picking up and delivering people. Or we hop into the firetuck and try to put out the fires. Or take an ambulance and pick up injured people.

She has never played the game without me sitting right there with her. She isn't even aware that the game is full of extreme violence, because we don't play it that way and we don't witness it. Its a racing game to us, similar to Crazy Taxi.

She's actually pretty good at monitoring what she takes in, on her own accord. She wouldn't play GTA2 because the people kept shooting at each other.

Tech, that's the proper way to do it. I have no issue with people governing themselves when playing games/watching tv.

I got Grand Theft Auto for PS2, and I brought it to my brother-in-laws house to show him. When my nephew woke up (he is only a year and a half old), we turned it off. I know he can't understand what he is seeing, but the idea that he might see mortality in such a graphic manner bothered me.

I agree with matt(ricoder mat, NOT bit and powerfull matt) anyway, I recentely showed GTA3 to my sister who happens to be a first grade teacher, I started with my fav part of the game, go to the train station that has a cover but open windows and use the snyper riffel to just randomly kill people and she was like this should be never sold because kids my see it. I do agree with her young children may see it and think that kind of action is ok, but on the other hand why can't I as a 25 year old adult with a reasonable set of morals enjoy such a great game. I think as a parent/resoncible adult you should do as much as you can to keep your children from these kinds of displays of violence and discuss then with kids but not stop them from being sold.

On another note I saw that games were being uses to help kids with learning disabilities learn to focus and they are showing to be improving in school since the video game study. I for get where I heard this. I think it was one of those 20/20 like programs.
