But we know what to expect compared to the alpha, so using that as testing isn't all that bad.

Remember, T2 was rushed 6 months early! It *does* have the best water, and realistic terrain though stuff like trees may be lacking. Terrain like that takes many polies, even though it's sometimes blocky, and trees would quickly add up the polies. I think the Tribes series was ahead of it's time, shame Sierra killed Dynamix.

ive seen better water, its a very generic water base (low fog when you jump in) that has a basic (but not in any way accurate) reflective map on top. (The same kind of reflective map cars, car windows, bikes and bike helmets, football helmets ect get).

hmm, at first I thought the xbox had a geforce 3 in it, but now that i look it up, it has whats refered to as the NV 25. you say its like an "amped" geforce2, but I recall DoA3 useing environmental bump mapping which would require the geforce 3 core, is this not a capability of the xbox?

Geforce 2 has bump-mapping. Look at the game Giants. It uses many advanced techniques, such as occlusion and bump-mapping, and it came out when the tops was a Geforce 2 on PC. They also added ablities such as vertex and per-pixel shaders on the Xbox's Geforce 2, i heard.

geforce 2 could do a very simple form of bump mapping, but rarly anything used it. I guess it was some kind of single object bump mapping? not clear on the limitations of it, but its nothing like environment bump mapping..

I read this thread when someone posts :)

Anyway, Giants had environment bump-mapping. Very pretty for its time, and even now. They later released another version of it that had object bump-mapping. It made the characters look awesome. If you can get a hand on it, some pretty graphics and gameplay :D
