Some people promote war, because they think it'll boost the economy. Well, let's see. World War II, the US is in a depression, total war boosts the economy, and everyone here is happy. Why? Because the fighting didn't take place ON US land. Now look at Russia, they were probably in better economic stability than the US at the time, and also went into total war, but the fighting was on their land, millions and millions and millions (I think over 20,000,000) people in Russia died (from the German Einztasgruppen [don't know how to spell it] surrounding Russian cities, starving them), and the economy only went south, WAY south. People blame the fall of the Russian economy on communist policies, when it was really from the disaster of World War II, Russia never really recovered. Germany had a hard time recovering too, same with all of Eastern Europe. Germany was in real bad shape after World War I. So war is NOT an answer to economic struggles, but I'm afraid that Bush will use the excuse of "war will boost the economy" to justify attacking Iraq. But if he does, what will happen to the Iraqi economy? We're not fighting the people of Iraq, they're fine, it's just the government, that's why we must use assassination, it's the safest, and shouldn't cost civilian lives.
Techmage, to answer your question on how crazy idiots like Saddam and hitler got into power, the answer is right here. How did Bush get into power?
