Here is one that kind of bothers me. All these equal 1:<br><br>5/5<br>3/3<br>8/8<br><br>but what about:<br><br>0/0<br><br>I realize that anything divided by zero is undefined- but can zero be divided by itself to equal 1?
No, it doesn't.<br><br>a/b=c<br>a=b*c<br><br>0/0=c<br>0=0*c<br>c=anything, because multiplying anything by 0 makes it zero. So 0/0 is anything, or infinite.

Any number divided by itself should equal one- but obviously a denominator of zero screws up too many things. Including this.<br><br>So no it doesn't equal infinity nor does it equal 1. It is still undefined.

If Digby had given the exact same explanation, I wouldn't have jumped all over him like that.<br><br>I still think it is undefined, but it was more of a curiosity question than anything else. So I wasn't expecting any real answers anyway.
But it could be any number, or no number at all. We are ALL making the same point, so it doesn't matter. (and that one is just a place holder for any number).
