Yeah, I think it's meant as a Laptop PC with added functionality, not a TabletPC. That's kind of how I see most of the convertable "Tablet" PCs. Just Laptops with extended functionality. That's why I prefered slates. I kind of like diving in a little deeper.

I would die for an apple laptop with a touchscreen, literally die... I would LOVE one of those for classes, not to mention I really prefer my PCs(mostly because many of the simulators I play/use are only on PC) for the desktop and my macs(because I love the design and UNIX + lots of science apps are what I need) for the go

There are a ton of science programs for Apple computers. LoggerPro comes to mind immediately. Tons of physics simulator programs... I use a G4 in Physics lab along with these programs to help me simulate situations, record positions with sensors, plot magnetic fields received from a sensor plugged into the computer.

I think there's more science stuff for Macs. If I had a Mac Tablet I'd being thing to Physics lab and just plug everything into it, do my lab in half the time and not have to save everythign and convert it.

Yeah we do use loggerpro too =) Actually in our physics labs we use Dell laptops, but I would just bring in my ibook with loggerpro because it would work perfectly fine too with the data collecting systems we used. We also use matlab on G4s for programming in computational physics.

Another reason I need OS X is for Xephem and other astronomy software that runs under Unix. Pain in the ars to install/run under windows but rather simple to use with OS X.
