Hmm, yeah, the economy would be the same (when hitler came in in Germany, the economy skyrocketed), but in fascism, the peoples' lives are worthless and unequal, in communism, the people are worthful, and equal. As that "cow thing" goes, in communism, the government takes your cows and gives you milk, in a fascism/nazism, the government takes your cows and shoots you.

I never said communism was good. I said communism works and is useful and has its place in making a nation's economy strong.
I never want to live in a communist country! If I did I wouldn't own a computer or PocketPC right now, I wouldn't own a car, I wouldn't even own a TV. All I'd own would be some pencils, paper, and a few books. I'd ride the bus to school, I'd use my one pencil, my sheets of paper, and my two books, then I'd ride the bus home. That's what I need but it's a living hell if you ask me.

I just wanted to note that the prison example you've been quoting is flawed logic and proves nothing.
I can use the same logic and say that since in prison you can pay with cigarettes & drugs for power, favors, and relative 'luxuries', based on the laws of supply and demand, the micro-society of inmates is a Capitalist one.
In fact, if I had to be in prison I'd much rather be in one that I don't have to pay with Cigarettes and sexual favors for better food and good blankets but rather one that the government takes care of it all. Does that prove that Capitalism is bad? Does that prove that Communism is good? No. Does it prove that Communism is bad? No. It proves nothing because it's simply a bad example.
I don't want the world, I just want your half.

This is bunch of bullshit. I used to live in a communist country and one thing they did there is to ASSURE that everyone has a TV, everyone had a car (or bicycle), everyone had food on their table , everyone had a home AND most of all everyone had a job. What the quality of the items were, that's another fiver :) but at least they were guaranteed the stuff.

On the other hand.. communism doesn't work so well because human beings are egocentric and want more and more for themselves (which is quite good, because it promotes evolution). Nothing to do about it, it's human nature. Capitalism (at least it's good sides) is ok, as long as it doesn't run people over.

So don't talk shit about communism if you haven't experienced it. All in all, communism is an utopian idea, which will never be fully implemented because people don't want to... I sure don't :)

Digby and Werner, you can't compare communism to prison. The good thing about communism is that the government gives you what you need. What about countries where people don't have what they need? Communism is the best way to stablize and increase a depressed country. I would not want to live in a communism because I don't need to. If I was poor, then I would want to. PDAFantast, where did you live? I agree mostly with PDAFantast. And a little with Moose Master, on that it improves the economy.

RICoder, I know, I can't stand it when people use "your" instead of "you're" too.

Hey, this is my 666th post!

Okay, but the bad thing about communism is that you can't get anything more than what you need, you see?

Meh...
can't...stop...sucked...in...

First, you are confusing Communism and Socialism. Communism, as it is intended, has never been implimented.

On that thought then we will proceed with communism (note the small c) as a concept of Socialism as implimented by Russia in the latter half of the 20th century.

Socialism is the pure redistibution of wealth. All work, all are given equal share. Additionally this is extended in communism and modern socialist states to include 'social needs.' This would be medical care and such.

Let it be known that NO socialist, Socialist, communist or Communist state has ever survived as a society. (The marker being about 200 years or so).

Argue the idea anyway, I will. However, it is, on its face, too utopian to accomplish.

I think i agree with PDA here dont bash it until you live with it also vice versa though dont praise it as god until you live with it. I think eveyone here thats arguing for it is arguing the theory of communism not real communism. And how the hell did such a funny picture, wich was acually used to try to prevent mp3's www.riaa.com become the basis for such an "academic" argument? No seriously can you belive that they think anyone would look at this stupid picture and not want to download mp3's anymore? For craps sake it looks like it was from the 40's, how cheeze-ity.
