OK, I was away...and now I need to respond.

Points of fact...
Robert, while I respect you 18 year old interest in the military, you are talking to a 29 year old American who HAS served in the military...which leads to...
Mike, on the point of understanding Islam, guess what I studied while in Military Intelligence in the Army? ready....THE MIDDLE EAST.

Having said that, I understand all the confusion, and I dare not call anyone ignorant. Truth is, and I forget who said it, the MEDIA DOES blow things out of proportion. But worse yet, they distort the truth.

Islam, the REAL Khoran, teaches more or less, peaceful existence. With the noted exception of killing of infidels. But, then, the Bible does the same thing. So, yeah, some muslims are peaceful, Mohamed in the later part of his life, was quite peaceful, not unlike what Malcom X became after his embattled youth.

However, the muslims, NOT JUST THE EXTREMESTS, do believe the US to be full of infidels, and we aren't the only ones...add Europe, Russia, Asia, North and South America. They also despise Israel, not so much the Jews, but the nation.

Why? Well, history 101 in reality shows that after WWII, the British decided to break up an old colony in the middle east. Part to the Jews, part to Jordan, part to Palestine. Israel and Jordan said fuck that, and split up Palestine amongst themselves. Hence the 6 days war. As a result a formerly peaceful[sic] region was sent into chaos. THAT is a big reason why they hate the US, Britain and Israel.

The media would have you believe that maybe a dozen or so muslims are dangerous, but you can trust the rest. It is more likely the other way around. To which I say, safety first.

and...just for paul...

I once had an instructor who was teaching us about the Baqua Valley in Lebenon, and he said that it could be best described by Obi Won Kinobi...

"Nowhere will you find a more treachorous hive of scum and villainy"

On to Israel, for which I am sure I will be flamed because everyone wants to love them...

They used to be fairly cool. We gave them weapons and training...and now they think they are tough. The Mossad is cool, but who do you think taught them? There military is strong, but who do you think pays for it? The USA.

They spied on us during Desert Storm, and passed the information along to asian countries who are not exactly out friends...and also...alegedly...to Lybia.

The sold schematics and software from F16s to China.

They fired upon a KNOWN US warship during their conflict with Egypt and Syria, and while they deny they knew it was American, there is evidence to prove that they knew.

Now, they violate treaty. They signed an agreement to NEVER use any equipment that the US supplied in offensive manuevers. Yet, they used an Apache to assassinate palestinian leaders. They bomb the Baqua Valley with F16s and F15s.

Israel, is hardly worth the effort lately. In fact I would argue that Sharon getting into power was more frightening than Putin getting into power.

Shall I continue? Pick a topic...wanna know about the Baqua Valley? How about Syria or Iraq? What about Iran or Jordan? Or are you interested in the Mujahadeen? Perhaps Pakistan or India?

I am not trying to be a smart-ass, but if you want to know some REAL information on the region, I would be happy to share.

[not new]
I just realized there was something in that post that probably should not have been...though I do not think that that is what Warren reffered to.

I don't want to step on nobodies toes, but I have to agree with Ric. There IS something rotten in the kingdom of Denmark.
