Everyone looks at this closed-mindedly. If religion didn't cause war, something else would. Like race. Hell, race has caused plenty of wars, eg Israel vs Palestine, does that mean we should abolish race? Ethnicity?

You can believe what you want. The entire point of Christianity is that you believe what you wish (as long as you believe in the one true God). It doesn't say only Christians go to heaven. And actually, Hitler's hate for Jews wasn't TOTALLY founded out of nothing. Beginning sweeping generalization... Jews have been a clanish people for a very long time. They controlled essentially all of the money in Europe (at least Germany), and since there was no competition, they just jacked rates up until it sometimes amounted to scamming. End sweeping generalization...

I could say such things about all religions. There isn't one perfect religion. Once again, it's not the religion that sponsors acts such as the Crusades and the KKK, it's the people that do it in the name of religion. Did God ever say hate blacks? Then the KKK is not a Christian organization. Did God ever tell us to kill muslims? No. Thus it was not a Christian action. No war is a holy war since God does not condone war. Thus, no wars have ever truly been sparked by Christianity.

And you say the Crusades were a large group of Christians, when in fact it was an extremely small group who made the decision: whoever was in power. Then they sent all their minions who really didn't think for themselves to do it in the name of religion. Did you think the average soldier actually believed that the Crusades were an order of God? And if they did, do you not think that this feeling was simply implanted into their heads by the all-powerful king or pope or whatever?

Religion doesn't cause wars, people do.

I'm sure you would criticize someone for hating muslims because of September 11. Yet you seem to have no problem criticizing Christians because of the Crusades that happened in the 16th century. Somewhat of what we were discussing earlier, it's easy to criticize the "majority" religion.

Also, Chris. You quoted Deuteronomy 22:13-30 and compared it to my quote of Deuteronomy 28:30.
I think you ment to compare it with my quote of Deuteronomy 22:28-29 on Prostitution, not on Adultery. Never the less, the Bible was written in Hebrew, Aramic, and Greek, and the verses we are talking about were written in ancient Hebrew, and ancient Hebrew is a bitch to translate. Not to mention the original manuscripts were lost thousands of years ago, and the ones we have today have been copied many many times. So different Bibles will translate verses differently. If you want the most accurate version, then use the New Revised Standard Version. Most all Biblical scholars use this translation.
