Well, when you die, your dead...permanently. Your heart just stopped beating. You can be revived around 1 minute when your heart stops beating from stories I have heard. Many organs dont stop immediately when your heart stops beating, even when you are dead.
Oh yeah, what made you so ill randall? Sorry if im prying into personal business but im curious if was like a long term or short term problem...

actually you can be revived or 'resurrected' quite a while after death - theres still neural activity and so on, your hair and nails even keep growing when you're dead.

i'm not sure exactly how long though.

I've heard that sometimes there's neural activity for several days - that's why I'm afraid of being buried.

In fact, I don't fear death, I fear dying.

6 minutes. after that your brain dies, and you can only be revived as a vegetable.your lungs keep on going for about 30 more seconds, then the other bits gradually shut down, apart from nails and hair which cna keep on growing for months or even year. one of the universities in england has a man embalmed in a wooden case, with a glass front. his hair has grown about a foot since he died years and years ago, and his fingernails 2 or 3 inches.
Why?

Of course, you cannot be revived after 6 minutes, but the electricity which makes your brain work remains for a longer time.

There's still some activity throughout the body, the growth of hair and fingernails supports this theory.

I'm no biologist, it would be great to get some scientific information.

It's said that those budhist (I think) monks can stop their heart by will power. What if those would dream of dying, that could get ugly ;) Oh well I guess if they can control their heart they can control their dreams.
I often dream of doing something really wrong and when it looks really bad, I wake up. Damn it's fun to wake up then :)

And is it really true that dreams may just last a few seconds but "feel" like hours?

I saw Flat Liners, that was an interesting movie.

But just because your heart stopped doesn't mean you died. And there have actually been near death experiences that didn't consist of a bright light, but dark figures and an intense burning sensation. That's scary, man. My throats choaking up as I typed that.
And most of the time with near death experiences you come back with some ... I don't want to use the word ability. More of a gift thing, like joy, optimizim (sp?), stuff like that.

But people have been revived more than 13 minutes after clinical death, the brain stopped function, heart stopped, blah blah. But those people fell into a freezing lake or something similar so they were "perserved."

Dying is very interesting. I "can't wait" until it happens to me. Not that I'm eager to die, that's why I put it in quotes. But I definitely wouldn't want to live eternally in this reality.

I've worked at least 25 full codes, two in the last 30 days. I've never seen a patient survive.
