Anyhoo, I am sure you have read a lot about Israel and the middle-east at large. I mostly agree with you on this.
So, we can agree that we both know something in this regard (or all three of us, but I think Warren got lost with his stuffed dog).
My experience in this matter is both individual research and military experience in this arena. So, my facts come from places other than the media, which makes them a bit different in nature, which is not to say better or less skewed.
I think it breaks down like this.
---------------------------------
Israel is surrounded by a bunch of people who's only concept of loyalty is tribal in nature. Which is not a epethet towards arabs, but more the nature of the beast. There only entry into the modern world is their oil, which the U.S. and Britain (mostly U.S.) actually drilled.
They live in a land that is hotly contested, based on religious zealotry. (Both sides, not bashing, just analyzing.)
Both Israel and the surrounding nations have the VERY-BAD(tm) problem of mixed government/religion.
What you end up with is a rock and a hard place. There is no resolution to this issue without total victory of either side or comprimise (HAR HAR, never happen).
This is the crux of my 'argument.' The problem, for the rest of the world anyway, is the nature of the conflict. To pick sides arbitrarily causes the localized conflict to spread like a plague. Personally I empathize with both sides in this. However, being an American who has to watch TV News, I got upset at this clean-sheet-blanket of protection we provide to one side. And, a side that has knowingly screwed us in the past. THAT is my issue with it.

I am sick of the Israel topic...

Wanna do Afghanastan now?
