999, I agree with all that you said. Japanese car companies are ONLY focused on reliability, which they do ok (even though Germans is better), but they don't even care about performance, style, or anything. The thing I REALLY hate about Japanese cars is that they COPY other cars!!!! Lexus is the worst by far. The Lexus IS300, the one with the neat back lights, is a complete carbon copy. The front is a VW Jetta, the side a BMW, the back is a carbon copy of a Mercedes, and the interior is a super extremely copied Porsche interior. The Lexus GS is completely a Mercedes E-class, Lexus has even admitted that they have been buying Mercedes and stripping them down and stealing parts and putting their name on it. The Lexus SC is a super carbon copy of the Porsche Boxster, just take off the grill, and bam! A low quality Porsche copy. The Toyota Celica, the so call "sporty" one, is a carbon copy of the Lamborghini Cala. The new Mazda Protege 5 is a vividly sickening copy of the Toyota Matrix concept. Hyundai, a crap Korean company, is a copy of Honda. All Infinitis are copies of Maseratis. Acuras looks too much like Hondas, even though they're the same company. The Mitsubishi Diamante is a carbon copy of Lincoln. The Japanese Hybred cars are the ugliest things on the planet. Now let's use some common sense. The Honda Insight is $20,000USD. It weighs 1,800 pounds. It's a 2-seater with a million batteries behind you. It's freakin' ugly! It's a 1.0L 3 cylinder 67hp 0 torque engine. But you get 60 miles per gallon. The Volkswagen Beetle TDI is $19,000. It weighs almost 3,000 pounds. It's a 4-seater, 5 with a baby. It's a 1.9L 4 cylinder 90hp 155 torque engine, MUCH faster than the Honda, and even faster than most gas cars, the torque is double most cars. And it also gets 60 mpg. The VW is diesel, which as 999 probably knows, is the most advanced diesel of today, and is quieter, cleaner (in CFCs), does not smell, and is smoother than gas. What would you rather have? An extremely low quality Honda Insight (I sat in one at an auto show, and it is the lightest and tinniest car I've ever been in. When you sit down, the thing slants SO much.), that goes "put...put....put....(battery turns on)hummmmmmm....put....put (90mph)". Or would you rather have a high quality Volkswagen TDI? (The TDI [turbodiesel direct injection] is available in the Jetta, Golf, Eurovan, and Beetle, the V10 TDI will be in the Passat soon) That goes "VVRROOOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!! (shift) VRRROOOOOM! (shift) VROOOOOOMM!! (shift) VRRRRROOOOOMMM!! (shift)VROOOMMMM (140mph)" For anyone that knows rally racing, you'll know the Paris-Dakar Rally Race, the biggest rally race in the world (on a Kia commerical, they have a car racing in the Paris-Dakar race, you remember, the one when the guy says "...and no deorderant!", note that Kia has never finished a race) and that last year, Volkswagen won first and second place with stock Golf TDIs, because they had to stop to fill up so few times. So if you get a Golf TDI, you can brag that it won the largest and most grulling race in the world. Can a Honda Insight or Toyota Prius do that? HA! They can't even do 100mph! While VW TDI can do 140mph with ease, only limited by the computer, which won't let you do damage to the engine by going over 140mph. The Honda and Toyota have a 0-60 of over 15 seconds, while VW TDI is 10.1 seconds, which is not that bad, but because it's diesel, with the low end torque, 0-30 is hilariously fast, it sucks your eyeballs into your brain. Hey 999, you said that you "cut him off as my fin was rising."? "I cut him off as my fin was rising" can have many different meanings just by itself. I'm not going to mention any of them though. Just foolin' wit ya 999.
