The next generation Golf is here (well, in Europe...), and I love it! It'll start selling in the US in late 2004. There's TONS of stuff on it here:

There's TONS of new technology in it, from a new type of laser welding (that makes the Golf V 80% more rigid than the Golf IV, which was very rigid too), to a new computer controlled steering system that "learns" how you hold the wheel and changes the sensitivity at different speeds.

I read in Pop Sci about the speed changing sensitivity. It is out of testing too soon. Luckily its only an option. The reviewer said that it got way too confusing to figure out how much you would need to turn to change lanes and such.

Looks too much like a Civic Si ... but I guess that's the crowd it's aimed at.

Exactly, my MINI has ton of computers in it. Steering sensors, emissions sensors, tire sensors, ECU...and its been in the shop for a ton of stupid things related to those computers. Meanwhile my last car, a civic had 175,000 without any problems. I only have 14K on the MINI. Go figure.
