Quit smoking

Quit smoking

Postby Jaybot » Jul 3, 2001 @ 3:34pm

I've now passed 2 weeks of not smoking any cigarettes. And Goddammit I still want one. if anyone else has any tips (aside from 999, his way is cheating) on quitting smoking or having a really good reason for me to have another cigarette without feeling guilty, please feel free to post it/them.

howz aboutz da patch? Those increase your count of red blood cells, which will give you better stamina anyway, so there're good for more than one reason. You could chew on a cigarette to get the tobacco, but that defeats the purpose. How about doing something like chewing gum? That always helps.

no way, the patch, the nicotine gum. etc.. just doesnt work.. it just makes you want a cigarette more.. cause it still give you the nicotine.. this is the only way to go.. but it sucks...

paul, yes you are the only non smoker here~

I have never even put a cigarette in my mouth, lit or unlit.

I look like a damn dork holding one, cuz I look and feel awkward. It's pretty obvious I have no idea what I am doing. I guess I'd be a pretty bad actor if a character required me to be a "smoker".

If I were an actor and had to portray a smoker I wouldn't. I'd tell them to shove it.

Jaybot:

If they have a Japanese "town" in Phoenix, similar to "Little Tokyo" here in Los Angeles, have a go at perusing the medicine aisle at their grocery store. Or better yet, the area which sells cigs.

You might be lucky to find a rather inventive little crutch for people quitting. They're inhalers which rest in your mouth like a cigarette. When you inhale, you're treated to a cold blast of menthol, or whatever other flavors they have. The mouth pieces look strikingly similar to the little white filters on those cheap cigars that come in packs.

They might not help much, but it does let you act out the process of smoking, which in itself is hard to kick.
999, Really, Now that is something I've gotta try. You see, Smoking is different to some people. For me, it's not just the nicoltine, It's the fact that you got this habit of holding a cigarette. I think I'm a try to look for this.

Here's a good way to quit. I've used em myself: Oliver Twists.

It's a type of smokeless tobacco thats about the size of a tic-tac and doesn't necessitate spitting. It's not a dip, or snuff. They gots different flavors and so on. But anyway, it gives you a much stronger dosage and prolonged duration of nicotine than a patch or a cigarette can. There are some other brands, but the OT's is what i remember off hand and they're pretty good. And they're discrete enough that you can look pretty professional and no one will have a clue that you've got one or two in your mouth.
anyway, thats my two cents on that.
Plenty o' smack and meth here in phoenix.. and oliver twist too (i tried that stuff the ifrst time i tried quitting.. and it didn't work), but no little tokyo.. so i guess i'll have to take another visit down to LA to get some of that inhaler stuff :)
