WinCE 4.0, aka Talisker...do you guys think it will be available to your iPAQ flash? It would be great to be able to upgrade once the thing is here. I wouldn't mind paying for it.

Read more:
I would bet on a way to upgrade, the real question is, will compaq try to charge for it? How much?

BTW, the codename for the new PocketPC OS is merlin, I used to think it was talisker too but thats just Windows CE 4.0.

Of course they'll charge for it, and as much as possible! Then they'll ask you to send your device to THEM so they can flash it for you. Or if you flash it wrong they won't do anything about it.

Talisker will probably be the new OS that's in all the DVD players, TVs, VCRs, Microwaves, and air conditioners.
But of course it will be better. It's got the Full Internet Explorer 5.5 in there, along with tons of multimedia capabilities I'm sure. Such as faster MPEG playback, better gaming routines, and of course all the PIM you can take.

merlin...the funny thing is that a version of OS/2 that never got of the ground was codenamed that. It was supposed to have voice control where you could say: Take me to the CNN homepage.

I wonder what happened to that...
