Anyone got a clue about it?

I just got an Onkyo Receiver and LCD projection HDTV, as well as Cox HD Digital Cable. Can anyone lend some insight on how to connect this shit together? I also have XBox.

At the moment...it looks like I am going to go component video to the HDTV from the reciever, and component video from the xbox and cable box to the receiver. I am also pondering going optical from the xbox and cable box to the receiver. Am I barking up the right tree? We're talking about much $$$ for the friggin' cables, so I want to be sure I am right.

Now this is my kind of thread, none of that economics crap!

I've been under the impression that if you have a digital cable box, you wouldn't need the receiver. That's how it works with Charter at least. With the XBox, I was able to just plug the component right into the HDTV, without going through anything, and I'd have HDTV (though I don't think my TV supports 480p or whatever is that XBox uses for HD, bastards. There are a few games that support 1080i though mmm.)

Rest of it sounds right, and yea, the cables are fucking expensive.

Thanks sponge...the rest of you suck :P

I spent about $4500 on the TV and receiver...the cables are about $100 for 3ft monster component, of which I'd need 3 sets...and $100 for 3ft monster optical...of which I need 2 sets...so, like $500 for cables. I mean...FIVE HUNDRED BUCKS FOR FUCKING WIRES!
