You tried just plugging a periperhal into one of them and seeing what Windows says? It'll still work, except at a low speed, unless it's something that streams video, in which case you'll get an "Insufficient Bandwidth" error.

I just found out my new motherboard (MSI motherboard for 64bit AMD CPU's) doesn't even have USB2 ports! It only has 4 onboard USB1.1 ports and a FireWire port (what the heck? FireWire and no USB2?!?!). My old motherboard did have USB2 ports, and the difference was really noticeable (with my internal card reader for instance). I guess I have to buy one of those PCI USB2 cards...
