Why would you want a librarian for prez?
In any case, sad truth is that he does not have the tiniest chance of winning. Check out

Mehh, I figure that shruging off a 3rd party vote as "throwing away your vote" is one of the most unamerican things you could do..
And why wouldn't you want a libertarian president, the Rebulicans and the Democrates just want to increase goverment spending on patching the symptomes of America's problems, instead of fixing the problems themselves.
Plus, I'm sick of the government giving away my tax money to foreign aid and domestic social programs.. If you want to donate money to help people, go for it, but I shouldn't be forced to do so..
Like many have said before, Taxation without Representation is pure Slavery.

I really have to ask the question of "why are so many Americans completely stupid?"
now, I know that some might argue with me.. but these people will vote for people THEY DON'T EVEN LIKE just because they "don't want to throw their vote away"
Jesus CHRIST! whats next? Hi, I'm SO and SO, and I'm running for Supreme Dictator under the Republican party, or So and So running for Tyranical Overlord for the Democratic party.
"Well honey, I like liberty and all, but I don't want to throw my vote away! one of these horrible canadites are going to win, I better choose the one that will Whip me less..."
I hope people wise up soon...

I understand that our voting system is completely fucked up, and that we need a system that allows you to not only voice your oppinion, but gives you a chance to pick the lesser of evils..
This could only be done by mulitple votes, with the first being a true electoral college vote (have to vote the way the people do, the popular vote winner does not get all the votes, but every canadite gets a number proportionate to how well they did.) If it worked the way it was intented, people would feel free to vote for who they wanted to (although people would still be uneducated, and bombarded by propoganda by the richer two parties.) If any canadate recieves 51% of the vote themselves, elections over.
If not, then they have a face-off popular vote between the top two. This gives everyone the chance to vote for the lesser of two evils.
I don't know, I would prefer it this way, but It won't happen because the people in Washington would never yield their power, and pass it. I'm getting closer and closer to starting doing some serious social disobediance and other reckless shit..

The libertarian philosophy is a minority position. So why bother voting? Even if all libertarian leaning people voted LP, they still wouldn't clench the whitehouse. Not even close. So why should a would-be libertarian voter waste his/her time to vote?
There's zero benefit to voting LP. The party is going to have a marginal showing at best. I'd imagine that less than 10% of the population, probably less than 7% of the swing voters, know what the LP is. And of that very small pool of people who even know what the LP is, I doubt even a quarter of them would consider voting libertarian.
Cost of voting LP: 0.5-2 hours of my time / a couple bucks in gas and depreciation on my car.
Benefit of voting LP: virtually zero.
Who is really stupid? The person who votes LP, or the person who doesn't "throw their vote away"?
Even if the LP achieved its theoretical maximum number of votes, the best case scenario would be for the GOP to take notice and adjust its platform a little towards liberty. And, even with that, the LP is still a fairly radical party. Trying to capture some of the LP vote would probably cost the GOP more swing voters than it'd gain them.
In conclusion, no real point in voting LP for a presidential election. It isn't, and never will be, a viable mainstream political platform.
If you're refusing to vote for either Bush/Kerry, you may as well just not vote. I.e., vote for yourself -- don't waste your time.
Or maybe feign political interest to hookup with a girl. That might make it worth the time.
If you really want to live under libertarian ideals, you'd better find some like-minded people and go buy an island somewhere. That's about the only way it's happening.
