North America Welcomes the Sony PSP

Well, since it's making news all over the net, I decided to post a quick topic of it, here.

The Sony PSP was released for the first time in North America today, able to be purchased in a 'value-pack' which includes Sony earbuds, a soft carrying case, wrist strap, 32MB Memory Stick Pro Duo card, two cleaning cloths, a sampler UMD disk, and the PSP unit itself. If you are lucky enough to be 1 of the fisrt million customers to buy the PSP, you'll also recieve a free UMD copy of Spider Man 2.
Sony has also launched the PSP with quite an array of launch titles, easily shooting down any of Nintendo's current games for the Nintendo DS. These games include, but are not limited to: Twisted Metal: Head On, Dynasty Warriors, Metal Gear Ac!d, Ridge Racers, and more. This easily dwarfs and outranks Nintendo's line-up. Many of these games are online-enabled right out of the box.
The PSP also includes built-in support for Video and MP3's, so if you have an extra $100 to blow after you purchase a PSP and a game or two, you can buy yourself another Memory Stick Pro Duo for some added multimedia options.

According to initial reports, retailers are selling these things like hotcakes on a brisky morning. There are still some rumors and concerns flying about, mainly about dead pixels, and Sony's replacement guarentee.
After seeing the initial reviews, and a PSP close up at the mall- I'm beginning to wonder if I should go use this nifty 20% Extra Trade-In value coupon and hand over my Nintendo DS for one of these babies. I guess I have until next month to decide- But you guys were right. This device is drop-dead gorgous. If Nintendo doesn't impress me within a month.. Well, I see a PSP in my future. My only concern is about 1st generation Sony hardware. I've heard many horror stories about the 1st generation of PS2's, and I'm wondering if Sony learned their lesson. $300 isn't a small sum of money for me- Am I going to regret buying something that may break after a year?
