While I agree it was probably best to let her die, since she wasn't (according to the doctors AFAIK) aware, I think it's a bit sad they had to starve her to death.
I think doing that to an animal would (should) be illegal in a lot of places, but in the absence of the euthanasia alternative I guess there was no choice.

Wait, is there so little going on in Europe that the main news there is the American vegetable? I find it stupid how so many people protest about "killing" a already dead woman when 3,000 people just died in Indonesia.

I think it's sad that she starved to death, but she needed to be allowed to die. Unfortunately, if the doctors killed her with injections it would be called murder, so it was like being stuck between a rock and a hard spot. But, I'm sure being vegetated for 10+ years is worse than starving for 2 weeks or so.
