iPod! YAY!!

So I got an iPod Mini Green through the university (student discount! YAY!), and it's AWESOME. I put on 18 hours of music so far, and it's only a third way full. I can't imagine having one of the 20GB ones, that's just insane, 4GB is PLENTY for me. I'm not one of those "I hate everything Apple and all the Apple people" person, I have to use an iMac and iBook for chemistry research to model lattice structures from x-ray diffraction results, and I like them, except the stupid one buttoned mouse, and I don't like the layout of Mac OS with all the giant stupid people buttons on the bottom of the screen and I find it hard to see what's open and what's not. The only thing I'm not sure on with the iPod is the earphones. I've never liked earphones, but hoped that these would be better, and they are, but I still have tons of trouble keeping them on, is there a secret trick to making these things stay in my ears? Even when I get them in, even the tiniest tug on the cord pulls them right out.

Hmm a no-money solution... Well, it depends: are these the in-ear type? With the little silicone plug?

A popular solution for this type of headphone is to get some foam, heat up a knitting needle or similar, punch a little hole in them and slide them on the headphone instead of the silicone plug.

If it's the usual flat type, you're out of luck.

It's the flat type with foam thingies. I mean, they're just so uncomfortable, you'd think that they shouldn't be...

Hmm, there's nothing that you can do with those except toss them. Here's a crazy thought though...

You know how some of the really cheap buds have a little rubber thing over the drivers? It's a ring with a little extension that goes into your ear. You probably have an old set of headphones with this lying around. Try taking the ring with extension off and putting them on the Ipod buds.

And if that doesn't work, you could always put a little rubber band around the drivers and secure them to your ears - but I would grow some thick skin first because of the looks you'll be getting :D
