So, the XBox is comming close to release...

Sure its a good console and all that, but who here would really actually BUY it?

I wouldn't. I'd just get the emulator and a faster CD Drive.

What OS does the XBox use anyway? would it be like the DC and use WindowsCE, or would it have a customized version of WindowsXP? or maybe the XP stands for Windows: Xbox Port, i'll leave that question to the philosophers....

Whilst we're still on the subject of 3G Consoles, who thinks any decent violent games will make their way to the GC? I doubt it.

And is it true that an expansion for the PS2 is comming out that will make it as powerfull as and XBox? I thnk thats crap, the PS2 is dead.

Long live PS2!

The PS2 was a still birth. People need to stop the CPR now!

XBox is going to be so miserably slow and boring. Why do they even make consoles anymore?

I own a PS2, but it isn't our main gaming machine. Every person in this house has their own computer, all networked together.

Even though the PS2 doesn't have graphics as cool as our PCs, it is still an awesome machine. We play it periodically when we finally get bored of our LAN games. We just go rent the latest PS2 games.

I suggest Red Faction for the PS2, which evidently is also coming to the computer. The controls are a little bit to get used to, but once you do they suit the game perfectly.

Maybe we'll rent that tonight. I've heard of Red Faction, and thought about checking that one out before.

I honestly don't know why they ported Quake3 and Unreal Tournament over to DC and PS2. The controls are kind of funky. I guess if you never played those games on PC, then it would be badass.

I still have the Metal Gear Solid 2 demo (Moose will still insist it sucks ass, I am sure) Every time I play it, I find something new.

Now back to the original topic- the xBox. It looks like an okay machine, but I'll never buy one. Just like I won't buy Nintendos new console, no matter how big the raves are.

MGS2 doesn't suck, I'm sure it's pretty fun. But people keep insisting that it's graphics are better than a computer's which really aggrevates me.

Red Faction was originally scheduled to be released for the PC. It's the sequel to ... Descent? Freespace? I don't know, but one of Volition's more popular games. It's really cool. Destructable terrain means you can create your own path to the exit if you've got enough rockets.

Ages ago, the PC was THE nerd thing, only for nerds who knew 'complicated' DOS commands and programming, OR for the mege rich kids who just wanted one to show off, even though there were no games for it.

Now virtually everyone has one, and same for the console, so it appears that PDAs are the last serviving Nerd 'thing'. So what will the new nerd 'thing' be after PPCs?

its weired at how the first computers in the home were consoles, its probably true that the last ones will be consoles too, after all, you since you can get a keybored for CD, anbd linux, that also comes with office software... scary...

Xbox will be running on a modified Windows 2k Kernel. It's graphics and performance is far superior over most other systems But When nintendo releases the GC it will have some comp. Nintendo is known for gaming systems. Also there are some good violent games coming for it too you forget sega is making games for it too. I will stick with gamecube due to the fact it has a ATI Radeon Graphics processor. The X-Box will be a nice machine to have though. I know the GC has a 405mhz IBM Gekko .18Micron Copper Technology Processor in it... Not the greatest but hey it's nintendo's first CD based system that's what you have to look at it is hard to fit a good game on a cartridge now that nintendo has a MINI-DVD Rom drive we can be sure to have some massive competition. X-box will feature an internal hard drive also which so may the GC but that is not yet known... You also have to think Nintendo has been very secretive about the GC and have been known to tell lies about their hardware so we may get something alot better than what we think... ME i a stick with nintendo But hey what do i know i think my dreamcast is far better than PS2 Which is the demon from the depths of hell but that is ok. I'll stick with trusty old nintendo.

I thought the XBox had an NVIDIA GF2 in it. Which is faster than Radeon, Radeon II, Kyro, and Kyro II, the only other competitors.

I'd doubt Tony Hawk Pro Skateboarding and Halo will make it to the PC, i actually think that the XBox will be a 'family' PC substitute. I've heard of rumours of "Office XBox" (no I didn't confuse it with Office XP)

Tony Hawk has been available for the PC for about a year now. And Halo and Red Faction were originally, and still are, slated for the PC. They just are for the XBox et al first for promotional benefits, since MS et al black mailed the companies, or buying out the companies, that produced those games.
