I'm getting married in one month, and we've begun the hunt for a home. Figure each of us is in the 6 digit range for income, yet we're still trying to figure out how the F we are going to buy a moderate home for 500K. Its just craziness.

Why not live in a place with a relatively low cost of living?

Perhaps you could outsource your job to India and move there?

House prices are amazing now. In this little desert I live in in Socal, my parents bought his house for $108,000. Now, 13 years later, it's worth $400-410,000.
