SD card recommendation?

I just got a new camera (!), and now I am looking for a good memory card for it. It supports SD (and MMC?) cards, and I prefer to have 1GB (or 512 if there's no other way), plus it has to be really fast. I got a 16mb (don't laugh ^^) card with it, and while the space on it obviously sucks, the speed is kickass! I have no idea how fast this card is though.

Anyway, any recommendation on a specific brand/card? I've got a dutch list that shows the ones available in holland, plus the price (for fast price comparisons and the such), but frankly the list is so damn big I have no idea what I should look at...

I hope you guys can help me out :).

Thank in advance!

EDIT: Forgot to mention, I've got a nice deal on a Kingston 1GB SD card, but for speed indication I only see 'High data transfer rate'. Still kinda leaves you in the dark here huh :). Price is $48 shipped.

Kingston seems good. They'll all be in the same range. I wouldn't bother with more the 512MB, because your camera's battery will run out before you can take that many pictures. Unless your camera is about 7MP and you're a professional.

James, I'm no pro, I just make pictures for fun :). It's a 6mp camera, but obiously I don't need to shoot at that quality all the time.

Chris: Thanks for the links! I did a quick browse through the list of dutch companies that sell memory cards, and I found this one >< as an example. Speed is 80x, but it's a Trancend card ( ? ).

Now I did some checking up on what makes a card faster then the other one, and since Kingston is a pretty good brand (as far as I know), one looks mighty fast to me. it says 'read speed: 8,2mb/sec, write speed: 7,7mb/sec. That's fast, right? (Price is about $80)

The reason why I want a fast(er) card, is that usually when you're taking a shot or two of a special event or something like that, it just sucks if you have to wait for the camera to write the image... On this 16mb card, it saved the images in about one second or maybe a bit less. That was for a 6mbit picture! so much better then the old HP I used from my dad :).

I have a 256 MB CF "hi speed" Lexxar and a 128 MB CF Sandisk. The Lexxar feels at least twice as fast (if not more) when taking picture with my Canon S30 (3.2 Megapixels).

The 256 MB was a little more expansive because it was "hi-speed" and it was well worth it.

8O

133x speed, equals 20mb/sec write speed, 23mb/sec read speed. 512mb, 50 euros, that's $63! Looks like I found me a memory card :).
