I would just like to let all of you know that use ICQ, that is sucks. It is complete crap. Blah omg its so crappy. I installed it restarted my computer and saw all the sh*t it did, changing my homepage, starting whenever i connect. And the interface to connect and talk to people sucks bad too. I can't believe anyone uses it, if i meet people that use it i think they should be executed sorry kids but ICQ and seek my balls.

Chuck, i would completely have to agree with you. No where in the setup program did they ask me if I wanted my homepage changed to
www.iseekpoo.com, or something of the sort. The interface is slow and crappy, and it's a huge resource hog. Why do millions of people use it?... THERE IS A BETTER ALTERNATIVE!... AIM and MSN are ver good messangers... YIM is ok.. but whatever.

Ok, When I installed it it asked me if I wanted my homepage changed. It's supposed to start whenever you connect, but you can also turn that off, and the interface is a whole lot more versatile than AIM's little dinky thing. AIM is built off of ICQ so show some respect. AIM is ICQ's bitch. I remember when everyone thought that AIM sucked just like you think ICQ sucks now. And there's no way you're going to say that MSN or YIM is better than ICQ. AIM used to suck because of the ads, but now ICQ has added them... it doesn't matter, I'm just rambling now. What do I care what you think anyway? Sorry, I'm currently disillusioned, I'd tell you about it but I don't want to.

I have to agree with chuck and chris on this one. ICQ is outdated and lame now. ICQ used to kick ass when it was version like .1 or something, whatever it was when it first came out like 4 years ago. I wish I still had that version, no f'in banner ads, not slow as shit, not a crappy interface as it is now, and absolutely no integration into any btowser (which was a definite plus if you ask me). The only reason I have reinstalled it recently, I guess it's cool that my # still existed after 3 years of non-use, is becuase it was the best way to get a hold of Carpe; which in turn is probably the only reason Chuck installed it on his computer. Chuck I apologize you can take it off now and just use my email address after you destroy ICQ and install MSMN. AIM is decent, I just don't like the interface for some reason, but I really like MSNM now.

I have to agree with Chuck. *shock* and *dismay*!
ICQ is a very sucky proggy. I installed it last night (2000 beta -- beta, shudder) but only to apropriate a number. I then immediately uninstalled it (the interface is worse than MS Office.)

I then installed , which, by the way, is also available for WinCE 3.0

It will handle it's own proprietary IM format (the only with secure file transfer) as well as MSN, ICQ, and Y!IM. The catch -- you have to register through MSN, ICQ, and Y!IM each to get a username/number so you can talk with others using those services. That, and the voice chat features are missing. Still, it beats having three programs running at once just to do the same thing (that, and it won't crash your system like ICQ does, or eat resources like there's no tommorow.)

Really? Does that mean I can use MSM IM on my PPC using Jabber?

blah. ICQ changes the PC config? yes. The installation is bad? yes. Is it insecure? Yes.
But, blah, everyone that I know has ICQ, so I think I will need to stay with it...

The application itself is very good. Lots of options and customization. But it´s not very user friendly

http://miranda-icq.sourceforge.net/
This is a new, better (no wait, best) ICQ program that interfaces completely with the network but with all the old ICQ things. No plug ins, no fancy things, just communication. Check it out, then tell me what you think of Miranda
