Photogenics, gotta try this out!

Photogenics, gotta try this out!

Postby 999 » Jun 23, 2001 @ 5:36am

I've been messing with this for the passed hour, and have to admit, it's pretty darned nice.

It's got it's own layer system, and "real-time" filter engine as well. If you've tried this on the Amiga, you'll fall in love with this version all the same.

My only gripe thus far is the level of accuracy with it's unique approach to creating what whould otherwise be a "selection" in photoshop. I suppose the more I mess with this, the sooner the solution will present itself.

Oh, check out the vids, they really show off what this little app can do!

Oops, I forgot to mention, this is a Paint program, soon to be known as the PocketArtist killer...

Um...

holy SHIT!

whoa... and stuff.

This app kicks some serious butt. It's amazing the things you can do with it. I was testing the different tools for about 20 minutes - just scribbling - and the end result looked really cool.

Okay I'm really happy now.

I'm still learning how this program institutes it's on brand of "selections", but other than that, it's really sweet.

I gotta learn how to control these "selections" better. I reckon that and layers are the key to unlocking this program's power.

I think I am going to buy this. I really groove on the layering system- it is very cool. Maybe the "WOW!" factor hasn't worn off yet, but it seems more functional than PocketArtist.

Photogenics is pretty expensive as far as PocketPC apps go.

I'm still debating... to buy or not to buy, that is the question.

Randall:

I too am thinking of buying it. Once you get how the layer system works, everything just sort of "clicks" and the production time is cut in half.

I didn't think it was possible to "reinvent the wheel" with a paint program, but Photogenics seems to be doing that with much success. This "wheel" is built on speed, and focuses on cutting down production time. An easy example of this is the "Experiment Mode" button. I really have come to like that button ;)

I made a few sweet piccies, but couldn't save them :( I think I'll have a go at using PocketArtist to screen capture it, but I have a feeling Photogenics is using direct screen access, so I may have to do the ol' alt+printscreen approach via VirtualiPAQ.

If I can utilize those pocket spawn images in my work on the PC, I'll for sure buy this program.

It is SO easy to create a glow effect around text when you use layers. I thought I was going to crap a brick when I figured it out.

Of course I can't save either, but it is still fun to mess around with it. I haven't created anything so cool that I was sad about losing it (yet).

It is definately a workhorse app, and NOT just another PocketPC toy. I'm curious if it supports plugins... not that it needs plugins, but it's always nice to expand.

I am awaiting some news from Paul for the plugins integration and if do not mind I will post the result of this questions asap. It's quite a pretty application for those like graphic application.

To save your test...try with snap it too on your PPC.
