Probably not. Especially if you're distributing something like Red Hat. If you were to put your own distro together, you could burn and sell it. But just making copies of Debian and selling them to people is probably not legal.

Not to mention: if you're really supporting Linux, why undermine these people by removing demand for their product? That's really lame.

Well, it would be for ppl with slow connections, and I would just sell the downloadable version. If they buy the real distro, they get a manual, support, maybe some extra CDs too.

And, well I'm not really a linux supporter. I think w2k is better for me. But linux is fun to play with sometimes :)
It was mostly a thought, but if it's legal, maybe I would do it...

This is a nothing post, I just read what I was going to post, but I'll say it anyway.

Linux is free and can't be sold...B U T...if you sell support or the cost of doing the burn or something like that it's cool. But you ain't gonna get rich from that.

Yeah, I would just charge for the CD-Rs, my time and ... the wear on my computer, power consumption and so on. Not the linux distro. Maybe I could compile some custom CDs with free software for linux (game demos, freeware) too. :)
Thanks for your help Chris ...and RICoder

Maybe like 20-30 FIM= 3.1-4.6 USD for a CD.

Sorta like GNU licensing. I had to release the source to PQ since I released the binaries. But, I could've charged 20 bucks for the source, by providing it only on CD-ROM which I would mail out to the "buyer".

Dan East
