It occured to me that I often tell the people who work for me not to come to me with problems, but instead with solutions (I got that from the a guy I served under in the Army).

On that thought, I offer a solution to the OS war, XML RPC, aka SOAP.

THIS is what people should be migrating towards. The idea was at first to be able to pass data via an arbitrary and generic protocol (i.e. HTTP), and in a generic format (i.e. XML) between disparat devices. Ok, we have that now...woo hoo. Now the idea is to be able to launch processes across these disparat devices, enter XML RPC.

The way I see it, if this can be accomplished, then it will have 2 major affects.

1) It won't matter what OS you run, since you will be able to communicate on all levels with others.
2) The OS war, will turn into the OS melting pot, increasing the ability for new OS's (like maybe the next itteration of Object Bases OS) to enter the market and compete.

Thoughts?

Well, maybe we could just spend a little time ripping on MacOS instead?

There is no single piece of equipment that I hate more than a Mac. Period. I don't even like the color of the case. Actually, I think we had a discussion about this, and someone suggested it was like bad art, or something.
