This report was posted when? Did you look up all reports on aspartame in the New England Journal of Medicine? For every article that reports the negative effects of any chemical agent, there is another that disputes the claims of the previous one. Everything kills in excessive quantities, it does not necessarily indicate that you will die from being exposed to it.
This sort of thought is from the same people who tell you that electronic devices cause tumors, and other cancerous growths. If that is the case then we will all have tumors the size of cleveland at some point in our life.
please excuse my pragmatic reaction. I am cynical and skeptical by nature.
(if I could spell it would help)

In my collage nutrition, we learned that aspertame, also known as Nutri-sweet, may cause a stroke.. usually it happens when your flying (?), thats why its bad.. pilots were doing it, not a good thing
There's actually a Nutri-Sweet support group.

its all a bunch of contradictions...
Against:
"DKP is a by-product of aspartame metabolism. DKP has been implicated in the occurance of brain tumors. Olney noticed that DKP, when nitrosated in the gut, produced a compound which was similar to N-nitrosourea, a powerful brain tumor causing chemical:"
For:
"They concluded that aspartame does not increase the incidence of brain tumors or cause cancer"

normal... but imo, an excess of sugar is worse than an aspartame... excess sugar leads to diabetes militus, etc.
