Well I am getting a new digital camera to replace my Kodak DC-210(I kid you not), I started off looking at the Nikon CoolPix 775, and then I took a look at the 885. After deciding I should get the 885 I seen the Nikon CoolPix 5000. Needless to say I haven’t looked back at the 885 since. And I decided that the Nikon 5000 was the camera I would buy, but then I decided to see what else was available in the 5 MegaPixal range. Which is when I found the Minolta DiMAGE 7. So now I am flipping back and forth between the Nikon and Minolta specs and I can't decide what I want. So I thought someone on the boards might have some knowledge in this field, which is the greatest value?

The Nikon CoolPix 5000 at $619
or
The Minolta DiMAGE 7 at $600

I was going to purchase whichever camera I choose at http://www.amphotoworld.com they offer the cheapest prices I have found, but has anyone had any experience with buying from them?

Matt, I have to tell you that me experiences with online photo sellers are not all good. If you really want a better camera first check the manufacturers they almost always sell refurnbished cameras. But I just bought a Canon D60 and my sale went fine. The returns policys and track record of alot of the retailers are very poor. first try getting reviews of the products at www.dpreview.com they give great review on digital cameras. I did alot of research on my camera before buying it. I know for a fact that the Minolta EATS batteries, which may not seem like a bad thing now but in the field when you can only take 40 shots its terrible. Be careful, I'll give you the inside track if you want it, later.

Well I wanted a new Digital cam for the PocketPCSummit, these two are obviously more than I need, but I can't bring myself to go for the lesser one.

The Casio Digital Cameras are bomb. Little big, (specially cause of large CFII slots) but have killer features, and the quality on the QV3xxx and the QV4000 is just sick (the good kind).

Inside Track Matt.
