x/0 == infinity !!!

I'm telling you guys, x/0=infinity. Take any basic calculus class and you'll understand that. I just started calculus this semester and found out that my theories about the relationship between 0 and infinity are true! For example:<br>As the limit of 1/x reaches infinity the limit becomes 0. just as the integral, ln x = infinity becomes zero as you computer the derivative to determine the minimal values! ARGH! It's so simple and I figured it out before I started Calc.<br><br>OR<br><br>In simpler terms, "TOLD YOU SO!"<br>;D;D;D;D

Umm, or is it null set? Because theoritically there is a limit on numbers. Take the smallest particle in the universe (so far it's the quartz of a proton), and full the entire universe with them until not one more can fit, that would be the largest number because any number over it would not exist because you could not represent it. I still think (and I'm not in calculus yet) that 1/0 = null set.

Moose,<br><br>You ask your teacher/professor point-blank, "Is any value x, divided by zero, equal to infinity?" and tell us what he/she says.  It has nothing to do with calculus, it's simple division and it's well-understood to be undefined.<br><br>I'll post this ONCE more for you people who apparently slept through your introductory algebra class.<br><br><br><br>Or read this FAQ:<br><br><br><br>Sometimes you guys remind me of the Flat Earth Society.  You have nothing to back up your argument except what YOU have reasoned to be true in your own little world.  <br><br>Show us a mathematics textbook, that says x/0 = infinity.  Show us a website from an accredited mathematics department or univerisity that says x/0 = infinity.  Ask your teachers for chrissakes!  I'm paying their salaries with my property taxes and I would hope they aren't telling you lies such as this.<br><br><br><br>

Correct and to the point, Digby.<br><br>Moosemaster, you got that wrong about 1/x. It should be, "as x rises towards infinity, 1/x gets lower and lower towards the limes (limit) 0, but will NEVER get zero."<br><br>I think in general, people that understand calculus are cool, but people that THINK they understand calculus, while they don't, are dangerous to themselves :)

Hey you know, when you are in a ship, once you reach the outer shell of a black hole, the properties of space and time are reversed?

Hey! ideot just posted an interesting post :)<br><br>It's a modification of the relativity theory by Einstein, you're talking about.<br><br>Check out this site about Black Holes:<br>

I still think x/0 = null set, yet the properties of space and time being reversed at the end of a black hole is interesting, I don't think that would be true, because to make space and time reverse (in my theory), you have to some how travel from a white hole to a black hole (that would be reverse).

Black holes themselves are just theory's arent they?

we're doing that in college now, my teacher said he thinks they might have just discovered a few... dunno

Okay PDAFantast, you have to make me look dumb. But I know what I meant, and whatever you said that, that's what I meant ;D.<br><br>Blackholes are not theories. The center of every galaxy is a black hole, they have pictures of black holes, or atleast the center of a galaxy with that cosmic (gamma?) radiation (the stuff created by black holes) being spewn from the center. That's how a galaxy is created, just like a solar system around a star.<br><br>I remember when they discovered that rogue planet 3 times the size of jupiter flying through space without a sun. It was shot out of it's solar system during a power struggle with it's binary stars (scientists speculate). It had an atmosphere and everything, and it was just flying through space like an asteroid.

Acually that is a theory moose about the center of every universe being a black hole. I just took a colleage astronomy class over the summer to make some extra credits for high school it was so intresting.

A giant planet flying through space without a sun, that is just so funny. :-)
