I do not know how many of you are familiar with cybernetics, but I believe people will be even more "connected" emotionally with technology in the future. If PDA's make us feel grief when we do not have them, just think how you would feel if you had an implant removed that allowed you to see in infared. It would be horrible. My question is, will we eventually become so depentant on technology that we will be like Startrek's Borg? Here is a link to an article about the recent discoveries in cybernetics. 8)

no i dont think we'll ever make tecnology more integrated with humans. i'm not saying we wont get that technology but most people wont use it. its fair enough to say "we'll all be controlling pcs with our minds" but i dont think embedding loads of chips and such into our bodies will happen.

people generally prefer to touch and hear and see things anyway - even if they simulate this with technology i'd rather be able to touch the screen. thats just me though.

Paul, it's already happening. A person has cameras for eyes. He was blind, now he sees. That article had a person with plenty of implants. I'd pay thousands for an implant to open doors and turn on lights when I entered rooms. Thousands more for one to let me see infra-red rays. The same for hearing enhancements (Hearing-Aids are available now, they're "implants"). I'd do anything to be a part of the experiment and have chips like that continually installed in my body. Especially one connected to my nervous center to increase reaction time.
Paul, it's already happening more often than you think.

moose, you have to bring up the stupidest shit - i'm talking about operating pcs, not giving a blind man vision.

jeez... you'd honestly pay thousands just to have fucking LIGHTS come on when you walk in a fucking ROOM?!? why npot get some motion detectors in your house instead of getting some operation?

and for a christian, isnt this all a bit like 'playing god' - i mean, come on, you have to accept jesus' love into your heart james. do it or DIE!
