Scientists have been working on an AI since 1984, same year I was born. They've been feeding it statements of common sense so it knows what can and cannot be. It's now open to the public, too. You can log on and feed it a bit of your own wisdom, and it knows when you're lying too. It even asks questions when it doesn't understand something. Like in 1986 it asked if it was human and if any other computers were a part of the experiment ... isn't that sad

Here's Cyc's homepage:
and OpenCyc:
We should port this little buddy to our PocketPC's, kind of like that project that Phantom did but this would be much better.

paul: woohoo! check out the rack on her!
cyc: rack? oh you mean a framework or stand in or on which to hold, hang, or display various articles: a trophy rack; a rack for baseball bats in the dugout; a drying rack for laundry.
paul: um... yeah, gotta love a good rack.
cyc: LOVE! WHAT... IS.... LOVE?!
bill shatner: very funny.
paul: thank... YOU!
bill: quit it.
paul: sorry... cap- TAIN!
bill: you... are SO .... dead!
paul: hahahaha!
cyc: laughter: a movement (usually involuntary) of the muscles of the face, particularly of the lips, with a peculiar expression of the eyes, indicating merriment, satisfaction, or derision, and usually attended by a sonorous and interrupted expulsion of air from the lungs.
bill: d'oh!
