Apparently saying the pledge of allegiance in school is now unconstitutional. At least that's what a US Court of Appeals ruled today. Incredible. I'm proud of those fucking Democrats, even they called it stupid.

Bottom line: if you don't wanna say Under God, don't say it. Simple as that. Fuckin pussies.

Playing devil's advocate for a second:

Saying it isn't unconstitutional. It is unconstitutional - by getting kiddies to say "under God", the US Government is "backing" a deity, which is a bit of a no-no.

For a non-religious kid in in a religious neighbourhood he's going to either have to go along with it and say something he doesn't believe, or be the "odd one out", and that kind of sucks 'cos we all know what religious loons are like (even as kids).

On the news the other day there was more "fun and games" about the creationists somewhere or other kicking up a stink and changing their goal. Instead of trying to get the heathen science scum to teach kids:

"God created the universe in 7 days"

now they're going for "teach kids the universe was created by a supreme being".

Boggles the mind, really it does.

What I say is this: I don't agree with it, but it's too big (all over the Constitution, Pledge, Declaration...) to be changed, so who cares.

I remember in the movie I saw last year in history class, All Quiet On The Western Front, about WWI, and it showed a part where an American troop picked up a German helmet, and it said in German "God bless the Fatherland", and he said "HAHAHA! They think God is on their side!". My point is, I think when a nation says God bless their country, that that implied not to be blessed on any other country, symbolizing supremecy. Saying "under God" in the Pledge I think implies that Americans think of themselves as a supreme country, or race...like the "White America" thing.

Paul, yeah, I agree with you a little, drugs and money, that's it. When I was doing my paper on Switzerland, I saw the drugs problems there, all it said was "some heroin from the Middle East", then I clicked on the drug problems in the US, and it was PAGES AND PAGES AND PAGES of lists of drugs!! As for being "free", umm, other countries are free...people here don't realize that. They say "stupid socialist Norway!!" and I'm like "do you even know what socialism is?" and they're like "[blank stare] it's communism!" "umm, no..." "umm, they're not free like us!" "you idiot [punches him]".

Something I have to say is, it's not the type of government that dictates if the government is going to be corrupt, it's the people. The US government is more corrupt than the Communist Chinese government.

a) Communism IS socialism (note the capitalization).
b) There is no didactic supremicy implied by the US. However we should believe ourselves superior in culture and society lest we be hypocrits by chosing to live here.
c) Coruption exists in all governments and societies. This is not the issue. The issue is the availability of a mode of redress. In this regard, even if we are to accept that the US is more corrupt than China (which is just plain stupid), the US still sports the superior mode of redress.
d) Other countries ARE free, but to what degree is the matter at hand. Do not suppose that the English have the same rights as Americans, they do not, and they are more free than most.

Blind nit-picking about the corruption of the US is pointless liberal pandering. Do not spew nonsensical garbage on corruption and freedom derived from Geraldo Rivera and think it will sway any but the weak minded and thoughtless.
