My performance with my Geforce3 went up 50% with the upgrade to XP... I didn't get the upgrade, I got the full thing and installed fresh on a blank HD. Make sure you check all your performance settings in Systems in Control Panel. And turn of that horrid skinning junk.

Might want to give this guide a shot:

yeah i took all that crap off. I made it look like windows 98 again. I have all my settings at max, and i took vsync off (that decreases the speed\performance) hmm.. Maybe ill use my restore disk, then upgrade from a blank disk. If anyone else has any ideas just let me know :)

Never EVER upgrade MS OSes without a full format. I'd also never ever run Windows XP, 2000 is just fine.
