Few things to try:
1. Turn down audio acceleration [control panel | sounds and audio devices (item) | audio (tab) | advanced (button) | performance (tab)]
2. Turn down video acceleration [somehow]
3. Hit the machine with a large mallet
4. Uninstall the audio drivers BUT KEEP THE CARD IN and try again (identify if its possibly an audio driver problem)
5. Borrow a GF4 off a mate and see if the problem is still there
6. Hit the machine with a large mallet. Again.
7. Try your soundcard and video card in someone elses machine (same OS though!)
8. Tinker more with the BIOS

That's all I can think of right now.

What dets are you using? (You are using the detenators right?) The 30 series I hear have been having some problems, though personally I haven't had one on a Ge3 TI200.

I just upgrade to the 30.28 that's on the website and I can't get Homeworld to play in OpenGL mode, and I just barely got it working in DirectX. It will probably crash out of directx next time I try to start a game.

Weird. Only problem with the 30 series I've had is with the Hitman 2 demo, and that's more of a problem with Hitman 2, and it's bad luck in release time.

Someone else said he had only stop errors getting into Direct3D.

I downgraded to 29.80 WHQL certified and the same problem persists, so it wasn' the 30.xx drivers after all :/

Can't say for sure, as I have no experience with Homeworld or the technology driving it.

29.80 Detonators are actually leaked drivers. Try and find the 29.42's. I have had problems with the official 30.82's too. Get them to work, and they work so wonderfully. Heres my tips with odd Geforce cards (Your card is top notch stuff :))
1. Totally delete your drivers and reinstall them. (Detonator Destroyer)
2. Try a modified set of Detonator Drivers (Search for Omega Dets 11.82, I use em)
3. Download latest Via 4-in-1 Drivers (Solves lotta probs)
4. Use standard clock settings on everything if you overclock.
5. Buy a new soundcard to fix the problem ;)

As for your 300 Watt, dont get a stronger one. I have a 300 Watt PSU and everything runs fine on my rig. (1Ghz P3, VisionTek Geforce4 TI 4200, 2 HD's, 2 CD-ROM, SB Live! Value, fans up the wazoo :D)
