Oddly enough, I've also owned a T39. It was sent to me by Orange as a temporary replacement when my T69 died a horrible death (major lock-up, all resuccitation attempts failed) and the company were waiting for new T68's to arrive. I found the battery life on the T39 to be noticeably less than the T68 - in fact, if anything, I'd say that the SPV's was slightly better.
Of course, this is just anecdotal, but it was a new T39 that I was given. On a different but related, the SPV's battery life appears to be improving with use...
