As some of you may be aware, my company will be releasing a game called Invasion: Trivia next month.
I'm writing this because today we had a post put up on PocketGamer () that finally, after some hype and build-up, spilled the beans about the game, giving just about every detail about it away.
We are proud of the result of all our hard work, but it has been disheartening to see some of the feedback the post has gotten and the low interest rating it has received thus far.
We fully understand that we're not exactly breaking new ground with a trivia game, but we thought the offbeat, humorous nature of the game would be a big selling point. That doesn't seem to be the case.
Understanding of course that it's tough to make any real judgements about something that isn't released yet, given the information we've made available about the game (), I'm curious what the gut reaction of the PocketMatrix readership is.
Did we waste our time doing this? Did we bank on the comedy facet of the game too much? Does it look "kinda crappy", as one person wrote on PocketGamer? Did we over-hype it all this time?
Answers to these questions might help us make different decisions in the future on what kinds of projects we pursue and how we go about it, so any feedback, positive or negative, could be helpful. Just don't be cruel, which I think some people have been in other posts. That's not cool, even if you think the product is going to suck big-time.
Thanks in advance!
...and so I said to Mr. Gates: "$640 billion should be enough for anyone!"
