Your keyboard has a microcontroller in it with embedded software designed to scan the keys and report that data to the PPC. You cannot just rewire it - you would have to write new software for the microcontroller.

The PSX controller is not like the Atari or PC controllers of old, where pressing one button sends voltage down one of the wires in the connector. It uses a communication protocol that encodes the data in a serial format.

Err, you can hack your keyboard.

To hook up old arcade controllers.

Provided the IR keyboard scans the key matrix in a similar manner to a pc keyboard.

But PSX controllers are of course no go with this particular hack.

Oh, and I want you to pay, so I'll deliver. ;)

I received some new hardware in the last couple days and I am at this very moment working on the MadCatz compatibility issue.

To re-hash things, the interface is working perfectly with Sony brand controllers, but not with MadCatz controllers. I've tried a couple different MadCatz models that work fine with my PS1, but they do not respond to my interface at all.

Trying a perfect product is always something to be respected.

A lot of companies would release the adapter with the madcatz problems.

Then sell an improved version 2 six months later!!

But then again a few people would forgive you for this, just to get their hands on "version 1" soon! :-)

I've got a hunch what is causing the problem, and I'm looking into that now. If I cannot correct the problem reasonably soon then I may have to release an adapter that only works with the official controllers.
