I think you can do it from Windows Media Player 9 using tools/open url. Try " \\network name\folder name\file name ".

Thanks. I'm actually not on the wi-fi network anymore, I'm back home on my PC. I installed Resco explorer, so next time I am on my friend's wi-fi network I'll give it a shot again.
