well the only problem in light wave is modler likes to make holes in your models for no reason. Its really annoying. But lightwave is much much much esier to learn max has a big learning curve.
great, have you ever used poser? i want characters in my scene so i assume the best way is to make them in poser and import - i think i saw a tutorial on doing this, but once they're in there, can i then access the movements i 'recorded' (or however you make them) in poser?
No i have never used poser. But im sure it will save your man and animation as a lightwave scene and then youll open it up in lightwave NOT modler and be able to edit the animation yourself along with the lighting/camera angles etc etc. Lightwave is really fun to make scences in.
right, i've got lightwave now but the included 20mb pdf manual was corrupted - but i've just found it on morpheus! huzzah!

i wonder... will i ever actually pay for anything?

(thats not including all my evil sins, moose)
Well pay for lightwave and you'll never have the money to pay for anything again
I also d***lo***d lightwave, but the manual is over 1000p long, ewwww.
yes, you can animate a model in poser, but I find it much easier and more flexible with 3DS Max and Character Studio/Bones.

Either way, you should be able to export and import into your renderer of choice.
yeah i had a look, you just make a few keyframes and it fills in the gaps. like i used to do in milkshape. ah... soon we'll have an animated jesus and a quakeguy shooting a moose...
